Principal Investigation Officer- Fuimaono Vaiao Eteuati
Vaiao has been with the Office of the Ombudsman since June 2001. His role is to carry out investigations of complaints endorsed by the Ombudsman against administrative actions or omissions of Government ministries and agencies. The addition of the Human Rights responsibilities will be a new experience and Vaiao is looking forward to the challenges ahead. Vaiao was previously employed in the former Justice Department and the Samoa Audit Office. His educational background is in Management and Public Administration.

Office Manager- Seia'o Saena
Ms Saena worked in the Office of the Ombudsman from 1992-1998 as Education Officer/Secretary to the Ombudsman, and rejoined the Office in 2008 as Office Manager. Ms Saena is responsible for the daily office operation, support staff and finance management. She has been involved with the investigations work in particular with the Samoa Police Professional Standards Unit (complaints against police officers), Own motion investigations, s.19(3) Ombudsman Act referrals from the Prime Minister for investigations, and general complaints investigations. Additionally, she is the Personal Assistant for the Ombudsman.
Prior to her currently role here in the Office, Ms Saena worked in many practice settings including, large, medium and small law firms, providing legal secretarial, paralegal and litigation support, both in Apia, Samoa and Sydney, Australia. Ms Saena’s experience and interest in the legal industry for more than a decade has greatly helped with her additional role as an Investigation Officer for the Ombudsman. Apart from that Ms Saena worked as a Secretary/Administrative Assistant with various Government agencies in Samoa for almost fifteen years.
Senior Accounts Officer- Folasaitu Ieti Seiuli
Folasaitu has been working at the Office of the Ombudsman since 1993. He began as the Office driver, and then became Accounts Clerk in 1996. In 2000 he was promoted to Senior Accounts Officer.
In his role as Senior Accounts Officer, Folasaitu monitors the expenses and spending of the Office. He also prepares payment for all creditors, and takes care of all supplies for the office.Outside of work, Folasaitu enjoys sports and socialising.
Clerical Officer- Asofolau Tupa'i Utuma -Ioane
Asofolau Tupa’i Utuma –Ioane has been the Clerical Officer at the Office of the Ombudsman since 2008. Asofolau’s role includes many duties, such as filing, assistance in preparing of the office budget, accounting support tasks, data entry, document and file preparation, and updating and maintaining accounting records and complaint files.
Asofolau also takes care of the Office’s Reception, so it is her smiling face that will greet you when you come to the Office, and her friendly voice you will hear when you call us.
Asofolau has a certificate in Customer Service in the Public Sector (Principles & Applications), achieved through an in-country training program with the Government of Australia, the Government of New Zealand and the Government of Samoa. Asofolau’s expertise and experience is in the fields of customer service, accounting and budget preparation.
Before coming to the Office of the Ombudsman, Asofolau held positions at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, Aggie Grey’s Hotel and Air Rite Company.
Outside of the Office, Asofolau is involved in the Church Choir, netball and Samoan dancing.
